Life goes on

My family has had a couple of really busy months. In my last post Tony had gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Just a week later Betty Boop followed him. I think she wanted to be there with him. After that we had a little guy come to stay with us named Kingston. He had been attacked by a really big dog and had lots of bandages. He finally left to stay with another foster mom in Jax. I stayed in Jax for a few days while Dad, Mom and Sam went to the National Dachshund Races in Ohio. Sam said they had lots of fun. I was a little jealous that they took him and not me but I had fun to at Aunt Heidi's. When Mom got home and came to get me she brought back two of my new friends too, Newton and Tillie. They've been here for a few weeks now and a few days ago Lita came to stay also. She has some really bad skin problems but I think they are getting better. Newton is going to his new forever home tomorrow. I hear he has a really great new Daddy. I'm going to miss him a lot.

Tony went to the bridge

Going to the rainbow bridge is supposed to be a wonderful thing but I hope it doesn't happen to me for a long time yet. They say that we will stay at the bridge until our person comes to get us and then we will spend the rest of our time with them in heaven. Tony went to the bridge yesterday. He was a really good friend and I will miss him a bunch. I will look forward to seeing him again when I get there.

Going to the Races

Looks like we might be taking a trip. Mom found out about the National Dachshund Races and talked with Dad about going. It's way up in Ohio and we would be able to stop and see our Aunt Nancy and her pup Zee. We really aren't best buds but maybe we can try again during this visit. I think they might let me race but I don't think mom is too sure about me trying to run away. Once I get started running I may not stop. Sam may get to do the cart dog races. The people from the Races asked him to come so people could see what a great guy he is even though he can't walk or see. He's not impressed with the idea but that could be because he still isn't feeling really good. Mom said you could go look at the website to see what the races are all about. http://www.weinerrace.com/2009races.html

Sam didn't feel good this weekend

My brother Sam felt pretty bad the last few days. He stopped eating on Friday and Mom and Dad took him to the scary doctor on Saturday morning. I was afraid that the doc was going to make him stay there. I know how much he hates that. Luckily mom and dad brought him home. They told me he has a kidney infection, whatever that is I hope I don't get one. He has to take pills for awhile. He had a big fight with mom when she tried to give him a pill. I told him he should have just eaten the pill pocket that she gave him and it would have been much better. I think he bit her since I heard her say ouch! He's got some really big teeth. Now the good thing about all of this was mom cooked up chicken and rice for everyone! Sam decided her would eat that, no big surprise there.

Mom's friend Bobbie Jo came to see us for a while. She had one of her foster's with her. Her name was Dasha and she was hoping that she was going to her forever home that afternoon. She said that she was going to be on her best behavior when she met the family so they would want to take her home with them. She seemed really nice and she was very cute.

I am going to drive mom crazy!

I'm really not doing this intentionally but somehow it is happening anyway. There is a big yellow lab that is torturing me. It is hanging out right outside the fence and just stares at me. I bark and bark and it just stares at me some more. We saw it yesterday when we were taking our walk and it wouldn't even let me sniff him. He just ran away. Mom said that he lives over through the woods at the neighbors house. I have visited them before when I snuck out the door. They have a neat place. They have pigs and chickens both things that I love to chase and bark at. I would probably kill the chickens if I got a hold of one. I did that once a long time ago and mom got it out of my mouth before I killed it. Had feathers everywhere! It was lots of fun.

Been having lots of thunderstorms. I hate those loud noises. I want to bark at them but sometimes they are just to scary to even bark at. Then I have to find mom and make her hold me until they go away. Problem is Sam and Betty want to be held to so there isn't much room in her lap. She kind of has a dog blanker during storms. Tony can't hear so he doesn't care.

My Brother Sam the Doodle

I said I would tell you about my brother Sam. He is a Doodle. That is a dachshund/poodle mix. He doesn't walk much, his back legs don't really work to good. He can stand up and take a couple of steps but for the most part he kind of scoots around on his butt. He can get places pretty quick when he puts his mind to it. He where a thing around his tummy that he can pee into so mom doesn't get upset about pee trails around the house. Sometimes he poops in the house but mom tells me that he doesn't know that he's doing it so we don't get upset at him. She would give me a bunch of trouble if I did that. The other thing about Sam is he can't see. You'd never know it if we didn't tell you. He will go barreling down the driveway sometimes and mom gets kind of freaked out but he knows right where he is. I think he knows where the sides of the driveway are and kind of feels them to make sure he is where he should be. Mom is also really careful about not moving the furniture around. Sam doesn't like it when she does that and things get in his way. He really likes to talk a lot. He is a pretty good player but I have to stand real close so he can find me to play with.

Mom doesn't understand!

Mom had me jumping yesterday. She was putting down some kind of stuff on the floor in the room where she and dad sleep. She kept using the very dangerous thing that picks stuff up off the floor. It makes lots of noise and stuff keeps disappearing into it. She really does not understand what kind of danger she was in. I was warning and warning her but she wasn't listening. I am amazed that she survived. So I finally just sat there and watched. I figured the least I could do was supervise and then let dad know what happened to her if she got sucked up into the noisy thing. Well she did survive but I don't think they are done yet. Heard mom and dad talking about needing more of the floor stuff so they can finish it next weekend. Maybe she'll listen to me then.

Mom and dad got a neat machine that magically makes really great treats. She put meat into it and it made chewy treats. She tried to explain it to me and called it a dehydrator but I really don't care as long as it keeps popping out those yummy treats and even chicken cookies! Even Sam liked them and Sam doesn't like anything.
